Nope.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 1:01

No, she's she's super young in that one. Um, dark water.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 1:05

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 1:05

Oh, there you go.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 1:06

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 1:07

For the win. Okay, here we go. What breed of dog? Is Cujo?

Ghost Hostess Mandy 1:17

Oh man, I've never seen it. I'm gonna guess, Rottweiler.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 1:22

No, but I'll give you another guess.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 1:24

German Shepherd?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 1:25

No.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 1:26

Oh, what was it?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 1:27

Matt and Rachel have this dog.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 1:29

Really? St. Bernard

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 1:32

St. Bernard.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 1:33

That's the kind of dog Cujo is?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 1:35

You can't tell because he's like, covered in mud and stuff. But yeah, he's a Saint Bernard.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 1:39

That's crazy.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 1:40

Pretty crazy.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 1:42

All right. How did you guys do? Did you get those? Those are kind of tough. I think those are pretty darn tough. The first one was I just never seen Cujo. Alright, so it's time for some

Ghoulster 1:53

Haunted Housekeeping

Ghost Hostess Mandy 1:57

Okay, we have a few exciting notes to get through but please bear with us because these are all cool things you can expect from season two. First and foremost, thank you again for all your support. As we kick off season two, it's hard not to reminisce on the fact that we started this with like one person listening. And now we see new listeners joining us every day. You guys have definitely raised the bar for us to bring you more informative content and keep you spooked. So that being said, we have some very exciting news.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 2:26

Yes.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 2:29

Our familiar Oscar who I brought up quite a few times in season one has officially joined the TGM team as our producer so claps for Oscar! We are working our boo thangs so hard right now to try to bring you guys a unique experience on Instagram, YouTube and the podcast. So Oscar has been a major supporter of the goal made since day one and it just naturally worked out that he really loved researching and finding content for the podcast and we can't be more grateful to have him at this time.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 3:02

Yeah, it's pretty crazy how much work he's been putting into all the spooky things that we asked him to do. And it's just very exciting, very exciting stuff.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 3:09

For sure. A lot of people have said that we're crazy for trying to tackle so much in such a short period of time, but we're just genuinely so happy and excited to be doing these things for you. ghoulsters we're not gonna lie. It's a lot of hard work from scheduling, researching, shooting editing, we can't express how much having Oscars help has really made it possible for us to do even more for you guys as the spooky season approaches.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 3:34

Yes, thank you very much Oscar Mr. Gatto.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 3:38

On that note, we are also really excited to announce that during the break, I had time to sit down and figure out the logistics of launching our Patreon. It's in the final stages right now but within the next week, we will be announcing it first on our Instagram will have four tiers available ranging from $1 to $10 a month, and we really wanted to make sure that you guys got your money's worth. And even if you're thinking $1 a month isn't anything, it is that $12 a year and that covers one month of podcast hosting fees for us. You know, this is all a labor of love. But $1 goes a long way to help us continue to produce and expand all our spooky content. I mean, a lot of things go on behind the scenes that people don't see like yesterday, Rudy had to get probably like $100 worth of extension cords for us to produce one of the spooky surprises we have coming this fall. So we love creating all this content for you guys, but a little help goes a long way and we have some awesome perks planned for our Patreon. each tier will come with special perks so definitely be on the lookout for that.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 4:42

Yeah. Anything you guys can contribute will come along the way. This weekend I had to kind of string together a bunch of extension cords that don't match and power strips to make something happened. But yes, anything comes along way.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 4:57

Yeah, who knows one day we're gonna end up having an outage in here.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 5:01

Maybe we might blow a fuse or two while we're doing this content, but it's all for you guys.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 5:05

Yes. And I will also add that one of those Patreon perks will finally be our dun dun dun monster hand stickers. I told you guys they were coming. We just got a little overzealous of when, but they are here they are right today. They are in our possession. They look amazing. Yes, and they will be a part of the Patreon exclusives. But we will be doing a giveaway when we hit 1000 followers, which we're really close on Instagram. So if you're not already, be sure to follow us @TheGhoulMates so that you're able to enter. And on that note for those of you who are not on there, why aren't you we have so much fun engaging with our ghoulsters I have to give a major shout out to some of our loyal ghoulsters like Michelle Shelley, Nikki Sabrina. You girls make my day when you reach out my only question is where are all our boils at?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 6:02

Boils?

Ghost Hostess Mandy 6:03

Our boys!

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 6:05

Boils?

Ghost Hostess Mandy 6:07

Boils and ghouls

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 6:08

Boils and ghouls? Okay, I can go with that

Ghost Hostess Mandy 6:10

Rudy's getting lonely. I'm over here building my ghoulster babe squad and Rudy's like

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 6:15

Where are my Boo bros?

Ghost Hostess Mandy 6:16

Hi, guys..Boos and Brews. We'll work on that.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 6:25

We'll have a meetup called Boos & brews.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 6:27

Yes. I think that's taken actually pretty sure it is. And if Instagram is not your thing, you can always reach out on our contact form on our website, the gmail.com I was so delighted to hear from a fan named poppy in the UK. She's such a sweetheart. Rudy, read some of the messages.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 6:47

Yeah, very cool. I think poppy is a very popular name in the United Kingdom.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 6:52

Is it really?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 6:53

I think so? I've heard a lot in a lot of BBC stuff.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 6:56

Awesome. I thought it was just so cute.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 6:58

Yeah, it was really nice.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 6:59

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 7:14

Ghost Hostess Mandy 7:20

And now getting into the really spooky stuff. The nitty gritty Yes, but it's the last haunted housekeeping, I promise. Okay, we promised that we take your feedback to heart so we reviewed all your answers on our Instagram survey, and everyone's asking for more scary and true stories and we have to say that is actually the very, very reason our familiar has officially joined the team. He has worked so hard to produce a new segment we are introducing at the end of this episode, exclusively during the fall spooky season of every year called

Ghoulster 7:59

Fables from Our Familiar

Ghost Hostess Mandy 8:01

He has hand picked a true story related to the topic of each episode this season for us to share with you. And if you really want to get spooked, be sure to subscribe to our new YouTube channel to be the first to know when our spooky surprise hits this fall. Okay, wow, that was a mouthful, but wasn't that all exciting? Now who is ready to get spooked as *beep* this season?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 8:22

Yes, let's get spooked!

Ghost Hostess Mandy 8:26

Okay, so let's hear some quick Halloween news from Rudy.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 8:31

Okay, guys, yeah, there was a ton of news coming out this weekend with the DC fandom experience. But what I wanted to talk about was the breaking news that came out today, the long Halloween which is a Batman comic book series is going to be brought to life in 2021 as a two part animated series, so look out for that. If you guys are more if you guys are interested in more fandom talk with what happened this past weekend. Let us know we can talk about that on an Instagram Live or something.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 9:05

Yeah, for sure there was a lot, but we have lots of spooky stuff to get to. So if you're interested in, let us know, on any of the platforms

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 9:14

For sure. So what spooky couples are we going to be talking about today?

Ghost Hostess Mandy 9:20

Well, I'll share a bit more about why in a second. But I wanted to talk about Gomez and morticia Addams. What about you?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 9:27

Well, I chose Rob Zombie and his wife, Sheri Moon zombie. They are a true content creating spooky machine so and they're really like us, so I'm excited to talk about them.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 9:39

Ooh, sounds fun. And as promised, we'll be sharing a scary True Story related to a spooky couple at the end in our first

Ghoulster 9:46

Fables from our Familiar

Ghost Hostess Mandy 9:49

Okay, so to kick off this topic, I wanted to share how I decided on Gomez and morticia. There's this super cool blog I follow called automation and it's managed by a sweet and spooky girl named Willa. She has always loved fall and Halloween. So she wanted to create content about her favorite time of year. And I especially love the blog because it has unique and informative topics like what makes horror soundtracks scary, how to make your own cozy candles, and just tons of really cool topics. You can tell she's actually like, researched and put a lot of thought into. But my favorite thing she does is quizzes. So I started talking to her and she was so sweet. She did a write up on our podcast. And I was really excited to collaborate with her and she created a quiz for this episode called what spooky couple are you and your partner?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 10:34

Ooh, very spooky and cool.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 10:35

Yeah. Which brings us to Gomez and morticia. So I took the quiz and that was the couple we got on my information. But I thought it would be fun to walk through the quiz and have Rudy give his answers to see what result he gets.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 10:50

Cara Mia

Ghost Hostess Mandy 10:53

Yeah, I don't know. I just thought it'd be interesting to see if we if we view our relationship differently. You know?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 10:58

Okay, so you're gonna give him some questions and you're gonna read it and it's gonna give you an answer?

Ghost Hostess Mandy 11:03

Yes, her quiz is gonna generate what couple we are based on your answers.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 11:07

I'm actually hoping that we are the munsters.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 11:09

Oh, we'll see. Okay. How long have you been together?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 11:14

How long have you and I've been together?

Ghost Hostess Mandy 11:16

Yes. Oh, that's well that's factual. So I'll put one to five years. There you go. Okay. Pick a date to go on with your partner. Me. You. Yes. So first one is zip lining followed by lunch at a restaurant with a patio or the classic dinner and a show.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 11:35

Okay.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 11:38

A night and watching your favorite show and drinking fancy drinks.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 11:42

Okay

Ghost Hostess Mandy 11:42

Or watching the sunset then stargazing?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 11:46

Ooh, I would have to say a standard dinner and then a show because we do that all the time. That's kind of our thing.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 11:54

We're so in tune, boo! that's what I chose.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 11:57

Pedal Haus and then AMC, yes.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 12:00

Aw the good old days, stupid Rona. What do you love about your partner? They're incredibly kind. They're so cute. They're so passionate, or they're super strong and confident.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 12:19

Is there another option? Ah, just kidding. Super, super confident. And what was it?

Ghost Hostess Mandy 12:25

Strong?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 12:26

Strong. That one! Ah, you're like no. My other choice would be cute.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 12:32

Ah, but you know, I'm more than that

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 12:35

Yes. unagi

Ghost Hostess Mandy 12:37

What's your primary love language? physical touch words of affirmation. gifts. gifts, not gifs.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 12:46

Oh, I send those all the time.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 12:49

Acts of service or quality time. Oh, quality time.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 12:55

Okay, we spend a lot of quality time lately especially because of Rona.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 13:00

How would you describe your relationship? Exciting, stable and comforting? chaotic or magical?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 13:12

magical.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 13:15

Okay, now I think this is the last one pick a love song. can't help falling in love by Elvis Presley, Friday I'm in love by The Cure, wild horses by the Rolling Stones or the best by Tina Turner.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 13:31

What's the second one?

Ghost Hostess Mandy 13:33

Friday. I'm in love by The Cure

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 13:37

Friday. I'm in love by the cure.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 13:39

Oh, just kidding. I lied. There's one more. Okay. Pick a sitcom couple. Jake and Amy.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 13:46

Who's Jake and Amy?

Ghost Hostess Mandy 13:47

Oh, I think they're the ones from what's that show with Adam? What's his name? I'm blanking. Oh, the cop one. Yeah.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 13:58

Brooklyn nine nine. Yeah, that show..Jake and Amy,

Ghost Hostess Mandy 14:02

David and Patrick, David and Patrick. I'm not sure what show that's from. Eleanor and chidi

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 14:11

Eleanor and chidi. Okay..

Ghost Hostess Mandy 14:12

Or Jim and Pam?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 14:15

Oh, I don't know. I would. I don't know. Because I said, Eleanor and chidi. Jim and Pam, what was the first one, Jake and Amy, Jake and Amy and then David and Patrick.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 14:37

Yeah, I'm not sure where David and Patrick are from.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 14:39

Okay. I don't know none of those kind of like match our relationship. I would say Jim and Pam was closest, okay.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 14:47

Oh, you got a different answer, but I still love it.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 14:50

What is it?

Ghost Hostess Mandy 14:50

Jack and Sally? You're supportive of each other but you're not blind to each other's flaws. You make each other better and you love each other. Even when you're not seeing eye to eye, in short, you're simply meant to be. I almost like that more than mine. It's very spot on though, so I'll be sure to include the link to the quiz in the show notes. And also to the cool blog. She wrote up about our podcasts. We did a nice little interview for it if you guys are interested, and I'll also include the main link to the blog because there's a lot of fun little resources as spooky season approaches, and take the quiz. Let us know which spooky couple you got. And if you're still looking for your special Gomez to your Morticia, let us know what your spooky couple goals are? Um, so yeah, Gomez and morticia Addams. Are you ready?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 15:50

I'm so ready.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 15:51

Okay.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 15:52

Cara Mia

Ghost Hostess Mandy 15:53

Mon cher.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 15:54

There you go.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 15:55

You're waiting for me to say that. Okay, so Gomez and morticia are the Leading spooky couple in the iconic Addams Family. The Addams Family was a fictional cartoon created in the 1930s for the New Yorker magazine, and later went on to become a television series and movie series and even hit the theater stage. So the family is super iconic in American pop culture, It's said to be the inspiration behind goth fashion. The family is everything that does not fit in with societal norms, which is why I love it. So I don't want to get too into the family or the shows or anything but because we're eventually definitely going to talk all about. what I really want to focus on is the relationship between Gomez and morticia. So when I took the quiz, I thought it was so fitting because it's just so spot on. They're creepy. And they're kooky. Mysterious and spooky. They're all together, just like, every thing this podcast is,d on't you think?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 17:02

I think so. I mean, we're always like, being creepy all the time and kooky. We're always like, re redoing the lyrics of popular songs into spooky songs. Yeah, so we've got that down pat.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 17:17

Yeah. And I don't know, I started like rewatching that I'm spamming because it's on Netflix right now. And they're just so deranged and dark and morbid. But at the same time, they're still extremely corny. And that's us. We're so passionate and like love spooky things. But at the end of the day, we're two cheese falls in love with each other.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 17:37

Correct.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 17:38

And that's definitely Gomez and morticia.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 17:40

That is true.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 17:41

Another thing that like really sticks out to me is that their kids are a lot like our little monsters. Wednesday is like Lolo, who's like super feisty and just like all around mean to her little brother, right, and that's Bruce pugsley. He's kind of a dork. Yeah, he just like constantly follows her around to get treated like so badly by her true. So that's exactly like how our little monsters behave.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 18:08

And like if you watch the movies Wednesday is very, like in unloving fashion always terrorizing him. Yes. And Lolo was the same way even when she's like, licking him and trying to cuddle up. She's like growling. Yes. And it's just so odd. And like, dude, like, Why are you like you are showing this affection, but you're also growling at him? I don't understand.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 18:29

Yeah, poor Bruce. He's not gonna know how to interact with other dogs after COVID-19. And so what I also like, though, is watching The Addams Family is like getting a glimpse at what we would be like if we decide to have children. Mm hmm. Um, like, I have to admit, I had never watched any of the movies or shows in their entirety until last summer when I was quarantine because of my leg, as I mentioned. And there's a scene where Wednesday and Pugsley are in like a school theater show. Right? And their costumes are like ridiculously over the top. Yeah. And I remember thinking like, Oh my God, that's gonna be our kids like so overly done for anything theatrical or related. And I started texting you, and you started quoting the movie back to me. Mm hmm. What was the quote you said, when they stand up and start cheering?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 19:29

Yes, I do. Remember, I think I said Bravo with an exclamation point. And then like hands clapping because they like stand after the performance and they're all clapping and then they're the only ones clapping. Everybodys freaking out. Everybody in the front row is covered in fake blood. And it's just like, Yeah, that would be our kids for sure.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 19:50

Yeah, so that's a taste of what's to come on The Ghoul Mates if we decide to have little monsters for monsters.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 19:57

We should name them Wednesday and Pugsley.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 20:03

Yeah, that would be great.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 20:04

Or Wednesday and Eddie as in Eddie Munster.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 20:08

Yeah, that's a good little tribute. I like that. Oh, and before we move on, I didn't do too much on this because I know I really liked Rudy's couple and I want him to have time to talk about it. And the fable from our familiar I won't add another effect to that is also pretty lengthy and interesting. So I wanted to save time for that. But my quick fact that I learned about this was I didn't know that The Addams Family came before the munster family. I think I The reason I thought it was because the monster families in black and white. I mean, so is The Addams Family, just in my head. I always figured it came first. But the monster family came after to actually compete with that family. I think it was it.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 20:49

Was it ABC there was trying to compete with that family or Addams family was with ABC is one of those two, right? Yeah.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 20:55

I don't remeber. I just thought it was interesting because I thought they were flipped.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 21:01

Yeah, but the I remember that the munsters, they actually worked with universal so they were able to use like, the characters or the likeness of Frankenstein. Oh really? And yeah, and you see Herman monster he looks like Frankenstein but it's not actually Frankenstein.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 21:17

Okay. Yeah, that makes sense. All right, so do you want to dive into your spooky couple?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 21:25

Yes, I thought long and hard about this and I didn't want to choose a fictional couple, but I kind of wanted to always have this in the back of my head and I wanted to use a couple that was kind of like us. So I chose Rob Zombie and Sheri Moon zombie. So they met at a club when Rob Zombie was on tour with white zombie. When Rob Zombie started, white zombie, it was like A long time ago when he was in college, and he met like the members during college. And after that he was he was on tour and doing all these crazy things. And at first, Sherry was very standoffish against Rob. Because he's like Rob Zombie. He's big star. And he's kind of weird. If you see a lot of his artwork, or any of his music is very out there. Mm hmm. But after a while, I think she kind of, you know, let her walls down. And they just kind of started dating and they both loved horror and stuff like that. But, you know, they they dated for like nine years, which is crazy. Wow. And I think the reason why they did it so long was because in a time because I looked at like how long they like what, when they started dating, it was when, you know, he was part of white zombie and he went to solo career. Rob Zombie. So they were like, he was doing tons and tons of stuff. So he probably didn't have a lot of time but you know, she was there through thick and thin Yeah, she would appear in his music videos and like help him with his music and she was a dancer on the on the tour so she was always there. But then one day on a 2002 Halloween night, I don't know if it was night but I can see was Halloween you know, they decided to get eloped so they got married at the Graceland wedding chapel.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 23:25

Okay, sorry I don't mean to interrupt, but that made me really excited because that's very like us.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 23:31

Exactly. And that's why I brought that up. Because we have this obsession with Johnny Cash and Nashville, Tennessee and Graceland is like, an hour away from Nashville, right?

Ghost Hostess Mandy 23:42

Yes. Right. And not to like change the subject. But we we again, never went into our wedding episode, but at one point we were like, highly considering getting married at the Johnny Cash museum.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 23:54

Oh, yeah, that's right

Ghost Hostess Mandy 23:55

Cuz they have like this venue, downstairs or like, I guess a basement. And at one point we really considered having like a very intimate destination wedding there. Yeah. I remember though this was when I was reading your note about it. I was like, Oh my God, they are like us,

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 24:10

Yeah, it's pretty crazy how similar. They are to what we do.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 24:15

Yeah. Okay, sorry continue.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 24:17

So Rob is a vegetarian. And Sherry is a vegan, and they both support animal rights. They're both part of PETA, which is really odd because of all the blood and the gore and stuff like that. And, you know, they I think they have a farm like it's a rescue farm for farm animals, and they take care of them and stuff, which is pretty cool. Another one of our goals. Exactly. And you and I were briefly vegetarians, because we tried it out and stuff. And you know, the animals. Animal rights is really a huge thing for us, too. Mm hmm. They also have their own little monster, a little black pug and he has his own Instagram by the way. His name is Godzilla. Godzilla zombie.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 25:01

Oh is Rob Zombie like your doppelganger spirit animal!?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 25:06

He's my doppelganger with longer hair and a long, amazing career. But yeah, very similar to like us, you know, we have our little monsters and we love horror and stuff like that. And they both you know, have like this spooky upbringings especially Rob, and I was looking into like his like history like I'll be honest I'm not a huge white zombie fan or Rob Zombie fan like I like some of his stuff. Right? You know, I grew up listening to him and Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson and they weren't like my biggest bands that I loved except for Nine Inch Nails but you know he was there. And you know, you see all this craziness in his artwork. There's like a it's a very like a crazy, Madhouse Carnival hillbilly horror thing. That's going on. It's crazy. And then I started looking to like him and everything that I researched made sense. You know, when he grew up he loved watching the monsters and The Addams Family. He also like love the Frankenstein monster, like, Who doesn't like the Franks? And then, you know, he talks about how when he was younger, he wanted to be like Alice Cooper, Steven Spielberg, Bela Lugosi, and Stanley all wrapped into one like, those are some iconic, you know, like, he wanted to be a combination. He wanted to be a creator of art and content, but a combination of all those guys and he was a piece of all those. Let's see, here he is. He was his parents actually worked at a carnival. Ah, so like all the craziness you see about him, especially like, House of 1000 corpses, you know, everything in that movie screams like his childhood. That's crazy. Um, another cool thing that I found out was that he was actually a production assistant on Pee Wee's Playhouse. So it's so crazy and random. He actually, um, he's very artistic in high school. Like he excelled in all those arts and stuff, but he actually went to the Parsons School for design in New York. Yeah, he's very like, wow, it's crazy. Like all the stuff that he did. Another crazy thing I don't know if we'll keep this but he was actually a graphic designer for a pornography magazine.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 25:14

Really?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 25:14

Yeah. And and I remember seeing like House of 1000 corpses and all this stuff that he's done. And there's always like this sexual element elements in it. Like very pornographic, anything that's words come from maybe like cheese. Like he's just like me too. Like, I when I like I have a long list of things that I've done in my life, and they all kind of leak into all the work that I've done. And it's kind of like that like.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 28:16

But would you say, sorry not to interrupt, but would you say that his his stuff is more sexual than your usual horror?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 28:24

No, I don't think so. I think it's, it's the same. I think I mean, it's just typical of horror, there is some kind of sexual element and you know, yeah, and I think it's just, it's just there, you know, nothing is not more overt than others. Okay. Um, let's see here. Um, he kind of got into film by directing some of his own music videos. I think the first music video was more human than human form is Astro creep. 2000 album. I think Sherry was in that music video. Oh, cool. Yeah, she made an appearance on almost every music video. Uh huh. She was kind of like a background character or whatever. But then shortly after that he left white zombie and started his own. Well, actually, before he started his solo career, he actually had one song with Alice Cooper. And that was his first solo song. Oh, that was Cooper. Okay. So he got to like, create something awesome with his, you know, idol. After that, he you know, had his his solo career start off it was Rob, zombie's hillbilly Deluxe. But in between white zombie and his first solo career, that's when he met Sherry. Okay, so it was touring in between, like both things. Mm hmm. And, and the crazy thing is when he was a white zombie, one of the he was one of the founders. He was actually dating one of the band members, like they both created white zombie. And then they left I'm pretty sure they had a falling out or whatever. Mm hmm. And then, you know, he went on to do a solo career, and that's when he met his wife. And that's when he found the lowest life, which is pretty awesome. And, you know, I was transitioning between, you know, living in Texas, and I needed to, like start a new in Arizona, and in between that jump, you know, that's when I met you in my life. So it's kind of similar to what Rob Zombie went through. So, and then, you know, a little bit about Sherri moon, you know, she had aspirations to be a cartoon voiceover artist. And she attended the Connecticut School of broadcasting briefly, but then she met Rob Zombie while that was happening, so you know, she kind of you know, You know, he did things with him and you know, supported him. You know, they dated for a while, and she kind of appeared in a lot of Rob Zombie's music videos, she would actually help out with the choreography for his shows. Oh, and also helped with making the costumes or his show. Oh, which is really cool. Um, what else? Um, she actually started acting in his films with his directorial debut for House of 1000 corpses. She's one of the characters. Her character is very crazy. And very loud. Like me sounds like you. Oh, I think in her heyday, she would have been a fantastic Harley Quinn actually.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 31:49

Oh, big statement boo.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 31:51

Yeah, cuz she kind of you could tell her characters very she's a killer, but she's having fun with it and she has all these different toys. Kinda like the Joker. And you know, she would be a perfect Harley Quinn. You know, she, you know she couldn't. She kind of looks like Margot Robbie like she has like the same form and stuff like that so it would have been cool seeing her as Harley Quinn. Interesting. But alas, we wouldn't see that because she does not act in anybody else's movies except for Rob Zombie. Ah, specifically, she's come out in like little small cameos and stuff on TV shows. But for the most part, she doesn't act in any other movies except for Rob Zombie. She was only in one other movie. She was in this movie called the toolbox murders directed by Toby Hooper. And he's actually the director of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Oh, so it made sense because House of 1000 corpses is very much like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but with clowns.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 32:55

Yeah.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 32:58

So So yeah, she I think it's crazy that she just acts in his movies. And I know that I read somewhere that she doesn't really like acting or she doesn't not like acting, but that's not her passion. Mm hmm. Like she kind of fell into it. It was more of like a thing to help her husband. Um, but like, you know, it's cool that even though it's not her life's dream she still does it for her husband that's pretty cool. Yeah, and that's you do that for me a lot.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 33:30

Well, it's interesting to me though because like I obviously enjoy everything we do. Right I wonder like with Rob Zombie the caliber he's at now. He could afford to get any actress he wants true someone who loves acting or stuff so it's just interesting that he still chooses her

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 33:49

I think it I think it has to do with and it's crazy because heroes you is hearing in the news about Hollywood couples, right. They start and then they end and I think they're very smart, and they know that in order for them to keep their spooky love alive, they're like in projects with each other and doing things with each other constantly. So having your wife on set all the time, you know, you get to spend quality time with them.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 34:15

That's true. You know what, that's a great point. Because, like, even us, I've thought, like, oh, what if? I don't know, let's dream here that The Ghoul Mates takes off, right? And we get asked like to do different projects and stuff, like, at what point do I stop being the focus of your photos or video, and it but that's like such a great point. Because you know, now that you bring it up, I mentioned that we hear so much from our ghoulsters now, and like also a recurring thing I'm hearing from them is that they're doing things with their partners and I don't know if this is derived from like quarantine the way ours was right? But it's just so cool to hear. Like Michelle listened with her boyfriend. That's great. Shelly does amazing cosplay stuff with hers? And they have a cool YouTube check them out Karrver! Yes. Um, so I don't know, it's just interesting to see this like theme going on in our community, right, like spooky couples who create together stay together.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 35:17

I think that, you know, you and I have always kind of done things together. There was like a point where we're like, oh, maybe one day I'll have my friends and you'll have your friends and that just doesn't that's just not us. We're always like, at each other's side. Yeah, and this, it's always gonna be that way.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 35:35

And we also like for me, it's hard to think of doing something exciting. And you not being there. Yeah. Even something as silly as getting like, passes to like an advanced screening of Halloween kills, for example, that happened. Like if you had to go do your own project that day, and I had to go alone, I'd be like, I don't want to go

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 36:01

Cuz I think there's been a few times where I wanted to go see a movie on opening night. Mm hmm. And I think you were either tired or sick, and I would go by myself, but even then it's not even the best experience is kind of like there's something missing from it. Yeah. But as far as the zombies, you know, they share a lot of parallels between us, you know, they support each other's creative ideas. And, you know, they're a true spooky power couple, like, I hope we could be. And I would also dare say that they are The Ghoul Mates that we strive to be

Ghost Hostess Mandy 36:38

Yes, for sure. Yeah. I'm like, so excited to watch all these Rob's zombie things now!

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 36:43

Yeah. There's just so much stuff that he has, and now we're gonna kind of Delve back into it. It's gonna when I was watching because I watched hustle the house of 1000 corpses this weekend to kind of like, remind me about like his stuff. It was just crazy. A lot of memories coming back about high school and stuff. And you know, it's gonna be cool kind of looking at that stuff with you,.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 37:09

For sure. I'm excited. And I also want to say before we move on that, from my experience, I think Rob Zombie gets like a lot of negative criticism. Yeah, I guess like you could always criticize his music or his movies saying they're not great. We kind of briefly talked about this off the podcast, but Rudy mentioned that it's because his ideas are like so out there and crazy and gory and sexual that people are turned off by it. But this goes to show again, our recurring theme that spooky people are misunderstood. Yes, because his actions behind the scenes say so much more.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 37:49

Yeah, exactly.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 37:50

The fact that he is driven by love, like his wife's always involved in his projects. The fact that they care so much about animals like people who care about animals are like the best people. So I don't know, I just think this always goes back to our like, changing the perception of spooky people. And just because we wear bones on our shirts or skeletons, I should say, doesn't mean that we're bad people.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 38:19

Exactly. I think he's a genuinely good person. And when people don't understand things, they're afraid of it. I think that's true. It's the first thing is like, when you don't understand a person or understand a person's ideas, it's frightening and it's not your norm. So you're gonna say stupid things about them. But you can't, you can't be that you can't do that you have to kind of, you know, let people be who they are. And as long as they're not infringing on your right to be free and stuff. There's no reason for you to criticize them. That's just misunderstood. And if it's something you don't like, then you don't have to look at it. Just like do your own thing and move on. For us, like people like him and his wife, you know, we look up to them because they're different. And they bring this love and creativity. And that's what we want to do for you guys.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 39:12

Yes. And it helps us keep going with our project to like, they can do it, we can do it

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 39:19

Si se puede!

Ghost Hostess Mandy 39:22

all right, so um, that ends our portion of the show. But we're so excited to introduce

Ghoulster 39:32

Fables From Our Familiar

Ghost Hostess Mandy 39:37

So to kind of explain this guy's like I mentioned earlier, we did an Instagram survey on our stories really quick, but like I said, Follow us so you could be included on those moving forward. And a lot of what we saw was just people wanting more like actual stories that are research that are like true and spooky. Strange not necessarily Like, oh my god, we want ghost stories all the time. But a lot of people were all sending us the same message, which was they wanted more like scary things they've never heard about, right? And so are familiar is into all of these spooky things like he does it all day every day as a hobby. And he volunteered to create this segment for you guys. And then naturally without even asking him, he started helping us get more show notes together on the rest of the topics and quickly became our producer. But this segment here is his baby. It wouldn't exist without him. And he's very shy. So we really wanted him to come on and share these stories with you guys but baby steps it's overwhelming jumping into all of this. It really is. We were even nervous recording today's episode.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 40:51

Yeah, I've had xiety like all day today. It didn't help though that I had a nightmare about House of 1000 corpses and I couldn't sleep last night, so I've been just like ready to do this.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 41:03

Let's just let it all out. Okay, so are we ready to get spooky?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 41:12

I'm ready.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 41:13

Okay, so I'm gonna read this segment to Rudy and get spooked along the way. So, this

Ghoulster 41:25

Fables from Our Familiar

Ghost Hostess Mandy 41:28

is about the spooky couple the Warrens. The Warrens are arguably one of the most real life spooky couples. They were a team of paranormal researchers where they investigated hauntings wrote several books and hosted lectures. Some of their most famous case files include the Amityville Horror, The Haunting in Connecticut, the parent family haunting, and of course, Annabel. The Conjuring universe is all loosely based on real case files recorded by the Warrens. The newest instalment, The Conjuring three the devil made me do it is based on their case file named demon murder trial. It was set to release in September 2020 but was delayed until June 2021. Thanks to COVID-19. So a little background on this are familiar chose this couple when he heard spooky couples because he said there's a lot of spooky couples like me and Rudy, Rob & Sherry, who are like we love spooky things, but we're not necessarily actually spooky people. And to him these are spooky people. They're not like The Addams Family that like Oh, they like spooky stuff. And they're so cool. Like these are truly spooky people in our familiars opinion.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 42:41

I think we like spooky pop culture.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 42:44

Yes. But he's meaning like these are true spooky people to the core.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 42:49

Gotcha.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 42:49

So here we go. So here's a quick history of Lorraine and Ed's relationship. Lorraine was a psychic and clairvoyant at a very young age, she started seeing auras are lights around people, but she suppressed these abilities since it upset her family and the nuns at her Catholic school. She kept her abilities a secret until they were married. Ed was a self proclaimed demonologist that grew up in a haunted house when he was a child. After the rest of his family would fall asleep, he would see balls of light come out of his closet, sometimes with the face of an old lady.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 43:23

Ayeee

Ghost Hostess Mandy 43:24

According to an interview with their main a couple of girls from her Catholic youth group invited her to go to the movies. On the way the girls mentioned. They wanted to introduce her to a boy they knew that worked at the theater as an usher at night and a lifeguard during the day. This didn't impress her at all. She had never had a boyfriend or been on a date. When she was introduced, she evaluated him from head to toe. Mm hmm Yep, noticing his shine shoes, creased pants, nice shirt and tie. She was impressed. At the end of the night and offered to buy the group of coke Lorraine said she didn't drink coke in order An ice cream soda instead.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 44:01

Jeez gold digger much

Ghost Hostess Mandy 44:03

Yep, I guess she had high standards. As the group all locked home, she claims when they got to his home, she saw a vision. Instead of seeing a young man walking up the steps to his house, she saw him as a fully grown adult, a vision of her future husband and she thought to herself, I'll spend the rest of my life with him.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 44:23

Aww

Ghost Hostess Mandy 44:24

I know, right? Even the truly spooky couples are corny. Okay, so they got their start in paranormal research by Ed's interest in painting haunted houses and wanting to prove what he saw when he was young was real. Once they heard a house was haunted, they would drive to the location and Ed would be on the road painting the room in haunted houses. When it was completed, they would take the painting to the house and gift it to the house owners. This allowed the Warrens to speak to the owners of the house and talk about what they had been experiencing.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 44:54

That's really creepy.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 44:55

Yeah

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 44:56

I thought at one more point that he meant like he would go paint them the inside and just clean up the house.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 45:03

Oh yeah, no, like there's

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 45:05

So he actually went out there, took some paints and painted the actual facade of the house.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 45:10

Yes. And let me show you. I'm gonna turn this over.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 45:12

Let me take a look.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 45:13

He would paint these things. Oh wow and take that to someone's front step and be like hey I painted up the house

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 45:20

I'd be like oh no thank you.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 45:22

Right? Yeah, so all this led to the Warrens opening their museum. In 1952 they opened the Warren occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut. It was eventually taken over by their son in law Tony spera after they passed. This was a special place because it actually located at the home of the Warrens. So the street is very narrow and there was not really room for parking to host guests. Since it's not located in an actual business. It attracted a lot of people to this small neighborhood at all times of the day and night trying to drive by the house or take photos outside the home. Eventually a neighbor complained that they were not saying properly and the town forced Tony to shut down the museum in 2019.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 46:05

And because it's freakin spooky

Ghost Hostess Mandy 46:09

Okay, so the museum contains haunted artifacts that they did not feel comfortable throwing away or getting rid of. They include dolls, masks, photographs, weedy boards and different trinkets that they claim have been touched by evil. The most famous item in the museum would of course be the Annabel doll, which is actually a Raggedy Ann doll kept in a wooden case with a glass window with a sign that says warning in all caps positively Do not open. Everyone already knows about Annabel So here are a couple other less popular but still spooky items from the museum.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 46:47

I'm doing the sound effects for you.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 46:49

Okay, so these stories are taken from videos posted on YouTube called official Ed and Lorraine Warren channel recorded and narrated by Tony The first item is a full length mirror with an antique looking gold trim. It is blessed by a priest around every month along with all other items in the museum. The mirror was used to conjure spirits, a New Jersey man placed this mirror on his wall and use blackout curtains to make sure the room was pitch black. in front of the mirror, he placed a chair and behind the chair was the only light source a red 20 watt light bulb. He would sit in the chair for hours and obsess over contacting his dead family members for them to appear in the mirror. After several weeks of failed attempts, hideous looking fingers started to appear in the mirror. Allegedly, these figures were so scary, they drove him insane and he was taken to a mental institution.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 47:41

Yikes. So his his family's gone and he tried to conjure up his dead family.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 47:49

That's what it sounds like.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 47:51

Oh, I think that the passing of his family just drove him insane.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 47:55

Oh, that's right, because you're in tune ghostbusting around here.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 47:58

Ghost bustin'. Bustin makes me feel good!

Ghost Hostess Mandy 48:04

This is the weirdest spooky segment ever. I'm like trying to be serious.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 48:07

I think I'm trying to be funny because it's freaking me out a little bit, a little bit with everything. Like I said, I don't believe in ghosts, but just in the off- just in case. I'm gonna respect.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 48:19

Alright, so the next item is a satanic worship idol. This idol seems to be the tallest object in the museum standing around six feet tall with the horns on top of its head. It has a humanoid shape and appears to be carved out of wood, but it's actually made out of a ceramic type material. It has a large nose, yellow lips, and the eyes are huge black pupils with a blue outline. It was allegedly used in a satanic cult as an object of worship. It was found in the woods of Sandy Hook Connecticut in the summer of 1991. A young man in his 20s went out hunting and got lost in the woods. Trying to find his way out. He found this tall Satanic Looking statue. He was stunned by the appearance of it and knew he had to get out quickly. As he was walking away from the statue out of nowhere an elderly man appeared. The elderly man had white hair and a beard dressed in all black walking alongside him, matching the hunters footsteps, saying nothing terrified the hunter thought of stabbing him with an arrow but instead he asked the man if he knew how to get out of the woods. The elderly man said nothing and pointed to the right. creeped out he goes in that direction and finds his car. He got in contact with the Warrens and took them to the location of the statue. Shortly after bringing it back to the museum Lorraine was taken to the hospital and was in and out of consciousness. Ed believed that Lorraine was cursed by the cult and making her sick, which was a warning.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 49:44

Woah, That's crazy. No, thank you.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 49:48

So that brings the end to our story.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 49:51

Thank God, that's too much scariness for me.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 49:55

They're creepy because it's like, possession and demon things that they're involved with

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 50:01

Yeah, it's it's creepy because it's like they're kind of like thrill seekers that like jump out of airplanes and mountains and stuff. You're putting yourself out there to do these things. dangerous things. Yeah, for as like as a career it's just insane

Ghost Hostess Mandy 50:18

And so here's the thing that our familiar brought up to me is there's a lot of controversy with this couple. Because our familiar included thinks that a lot of this stuff is like, some of it's made up to make money. Right. And he brought up a good point like, well, that's kind of Hollywood, like a lot of horror movies are based on true stories, but then they're like, magnified to create entertainment. Right? So like, at what point is it considered unethical?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 50:54

I don't know if it's unethical. I think that if you're going to Kind of, you know, prey on someone that is obviously, in emotional distress like, people because I know that psychics like to do this, that make money, though, like talk to people that lost children or grandparents or whatever, and they want to talk to their parents, they're like, Oh, yeah, he's gonna talk to me. And he says that he's fine and he's happy. Or this is where your child is. his body's at, you know, the stuff like that. And you make money off of that. But if you have like a museum with like, these things that were, quote, unquote, haunted I think that's different than going after people and taking advantage of people. Yeah, that makes sense. Because, I mean, think about like, your, you know, how you drive down the road and there's always like, that one gas station that has like, come see the thing. Oh, yes. Yes. You know, it's, it's, it's all entertainment, and I think that's okay. But as far as trying to, like, make money off of somebody's pain, you know, I think that's wrong.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 52:00

Yeah, that's true. And again, I don't know too much about this couple or the movies, because I've mentioned before I don't touch these kind of topics. Yeah, maybe eventually I will as I become more desensitized with movies, but I think definitely you you make a good point. Yeah, it's fine if it's for Hollywood or entertainment, but if the Warrens were actually like, messing with people to make them even more terrified and get that story out of them then that's where the lot the line is crossed.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 52:32

Right cuz I mean, even the the part of the story where you're telling me that he, the guy would go paint someone's house and then give them the house like they're not asking for money. They're just, they've heard of the story that it's haunted and here's your haunted house.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 52:46

No, but that's where the line is blurry because they're not asking for money, but they're looking for stories they can use, right.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 52:57

I mean, that's kind of have always been a thing though. Every story that's ever been told, comes from some type of truth. And, and stories are a form of entertainment. And people always exploit those stories. It's just the way things are, like even in our field where we're trying to come up with this entertainment and stuff like that. It's all stories from somewhere, and it started somewhere. So I mean, yeah, it's a blurry line to kind of like try to create this whole mythos of like these ghosts and stuff like that. But I think it's still different from trying to exploit somebody that is going through something bad. Yeah, make money. But I mean, I think they were really smart to kind of make these kind of stories up, and stuff like that. I mean, they're no different than magicians. If you think about it, magicians they come up with these tricks to trick you into thinking that what they're doing is real and they make money off of it. They create these stories in the this identity. So they trick you into thinking this is real. Right? And they pay you for it, or they we pay them for it. So I mean, it is blurry. But I think in the end, I think it's fine. It doesn't bother me. Because, you know, there is no real proof that any of those things that they come up with are real or not. But I don't know, what do you think?

Ghost Hostess Mandy 54:24

Um, I don't know, I think the way you put it was a really good way to define it is if you're creating something, and it's for entertainment, that's fine. But if you're like, purposely messing with people's state of mind, that are already feeling spooky, like spooked out, right? Then it becomes wrong because you shouldn't be harming someone just to get a story out of them.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 54:49

Yeah, that's true. I mean, well, I mean, think about the people that have the haunted houses, right. You know, I'm pretty sure they know the stories of the haunted houses that they live in. And they understand it. You know, they might be living with the ghosts or they might not so, well, some do and some don't know. Oh, okay, maybe I don't know, I would assume, you know, that they know. Because if it's like a haunted house and it's being, you know, visited all the time, I'm pretty sure at some point, they're like, Oh, this place is haunted. I didn't know that. And now they're just living there.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 55:24

No. So the stories Oscar was referring to, uh huh. They're targeting people where they sent a presence in the house. Oh, okay. They're like, have you been experiencing weird things? Okay, help you figure that out?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 55:36

Yeah, that's different. I think that's different. I think, you know, going to a house and saying, Oh, this house is haunted that's exploiting somebody just at random. That's like the same thing as like,

Ghost Hostess Mandy 55:50

well see, here's how it was one to know whether that is what they were doing. Like they could have just randomly picked our apartment and say like, you've been hearing spooky things. And then a Crazy girl like me lives there and say, Oh my god, yes, the door opens every night and it's really creepy.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 56:05

Yeah. Yeah. And that's the thing that makes it the lines blurred because they might be just picking someone at random because there's no proof that

Ghost Hostess Mandy 56:14

they're really feeling these presence.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 56:17

Yes. Because it could be making that up just to be

Ghost Hostess Mandy 56:19

Or they could be telling the truth, you never know.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 56:22

And that's the part about being like I said in magician, like, sometimes the trick is so good that maybe there is magic. You never know.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 56:30

Yeah. But I think that's a really good point

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 56:34

Not that I believe in magic.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 56:36

I do, by the way, not magic in spiritual things. Um, but I think that that's a really good way to kind of wrap up this episode. Is that something you said that really stuck out to me is that every story comes from some type of true story, right? And that's kind of what this

Ghoulster 56:54

Fables from Our Familiar

Ghost Hostess Mandy 56:56

is focused on, is finding true stories. That could be true or not true, but they're derived from the truth. And so it's kind of up to you guys to decide what you think about the stories. And these are all based on like real research and facts that are familiar has done.

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 57:17

So yeah, he did a excellent job with this. It did creep me out. I'm ready to turn on all the lights in the apartment. I'm pretty scared.

Ghost Hostess Mandy 57:27

So that concludes our first episode of season two. Um, are you guys feeling spooked yet?

Master of Scaremonies Rudy 57:35

I know that I'm feeling spooked right now. I'm not gonna be able to sleep tonight. Thanks a lot.
